Riding lessons

The Berkshire Riding Centre Ltd is a BHS approved riding establishment – the Industry standard for quality.

Whatever your needs we can help. If you are an absolute beginner or have dreams of becoming an Olympic champion talk to us and we can devise the right lesson programme.

We offer lessons in Jumping, dressage or just honing particular skills. Tell us what you want and well do our best to deliver.

We can arrange one on one individual lessons or group lessons of like minded riders.

 

 

Children, over 4, are welcome. Again either on an individual basis or in group classes.

 

 

 

We have super horses of all sizes from Ponies to 18+ hands. We will find the horse appropriate to your needs. Alternatively you are very welcome to bring your own horse, in which case tell us when you book.

 

 

Take a look at our page and you will see that we have 3 superb riding arenas – one inside and two outside. This means we can ride in virtually all weather conditions – inside or outside. Many lessons will be conducted in our indoor school.

All our horses and ponies are well schooled and most have competed successfully in many disciplines. We have several advanced school masters, and all of them are regularly schooled and competed either by members of staff or competent clients.

How to book:

Decide what lesson you want - see below - or call or email us to discuss your needs or just to make a booking. We do not employ a full time secretary so if you reach, for example, an answer machine please be patient, we will get back to you. If we are slow do call again. Details on cost and dates of group lessons are detailed below.

We do ask for payment in advance with the booking, also do note that if you cancel the lesson with less than 24 hours notice we do not give a refund. You must present a valid receipt to get a refund.

How do you contact us:

• Call the office on 01344-884992 - the office is manned all days, except Wednesday and Thursday. Weekday times are 11am-3pm and weekend times are 9am - 3pm.
• If no one answers then leave a message on the answer machine and we’ll call you back.
• Or  email us at infor@brc.uk.com and let us know what you want, make sure you also send credit card details.

We offer three types of lessons:

Group Lessons:  every day we run group lessons for different ages and levels of experience ... call to ask about the group that you want. See below for prices.  Call on 01344-884992.

Private lessons: we offer 30 minute and 45 minute private lessons, see below for prices. Perfect if you've just started and want to build basic comepetences before you join a group , or if you are experienced and just want one on one training. Call on 01344-884992 to book.

Semi-private: if you want to ride with a freind we offer 45 minute semi-private lessons for two people. It does need two of you so we can only offer this if we have a second person to join you. See below for prices, call to book on 013244-884992.

Note on Group lessons:   What happens if you turn up and the group is under booked ?

• Group lessons are designed, and priced, for 4 - 8 people.
• If less than this book into a group lesson then BRC policy is:
  • For 3 people  - the lesson will go ahead as normal.
  • For 2 people - we will give a 45 minute semi-private lesson.
  • For 1 person - we will give a 30 minute private lesson.
• For each of the above the normal group lesson rate will still apply.

You may also cancel your place on a group lesson rather than have a shorter private lesson as above and rebook for another time. But please note you may only find out about this when you arrive for your lesson. i>RaRather than have you arrive to find we have cancelled the lesson we have tried to find a workable alternative to keep you riding.

 However don’t worry under booked groups occur very infrequently.

New Clients:

All new clients must complete a client detail form on booking their first lesson and your first lesson must be an assessment lesson.  Don’t worry its’ not difficult we’ll help you through it on your first visit.

This enables us to assess you professionally and together with you determine the most appropriate programme. It also helps us address important safety issues.

What do I wear?

Hard hats to current BHS requirements and suitable footwear must be worn. No high heels, platform or ribbed soles permitted. Hats can be supplied, but its’ probably best to have your own if you want to  ride regularly.

Ladies - T-shirts/ Polo shirts are perfect. Strapless/ low cut not appropriate! No jewelry - it can snag or get stuck.

All : gloves reccomended, do  button up jackets and do up the strap on your hat.

What does it cost to ride at the Berkshire Riding Centre Ltd?

Price Increase - Feb 15th : having not taken a price increase on lessons since August 2010 - other than an adjustment for the rise in VAT on 1/1/11 - and having been hit by double digit inflation on virtually all of our costs we now have to announce an increase from February 15th. It's £2 per lesson, except 45 minute lessons which increase by £3. We have managed to keep the increase below the cost inflation we have experienced. See below.

To help why not buy a card before the 15th (i.e. latest date is 14/2) at the old price, and hold your riding price until that card runs out? Ask Marie, or your instructor for details.

• Book 10 lessons, pay in advance and get one free. Must be taken within 6 months of purchase.
• Special rates for school bookings by arrangement.

Group Lessons - Schedule:

We run different group lessons every day. We have group lessons for all ...    

• adults or children,
• seniors
• at different times of the day
• for different levels of experience from beginners and up.

These group lessons are becoming increasingly popular and additional group lessons are being added all the time. Do call or ask at the Centre for a group that may suit you.

Conditions:

1. Subject to availability
2. Bookings must be paid in advance, refunds only given with more than 24 hours notice, with a receipt (ask for one when you book).
3. Payment may be by cash, cheque or credit card.
4. Cards purchased (buy 10 lesson get one free) must be used within 6 months of purchase. Unused lesson will be voided

2. It is advised that you take out personal accident insurance cover.
3. Horse riding is a risky sport, whilst we make every effort to ensure your safety, clients have to accept the risk of personal injury or loss that may occur.
4. We operate a no smoking policy throughout the premises.
