Careers

We are a BHS approved “Where to Train Centre” and Rosie is qualified to deliver BHS and NVQ training. Over the years we have helped employees get qualifications in various areas, including:

BHS stage I, II, III, IV
PTT
BHSAI
BHSII

We frequently work with staff who have a good level of qualification but want to go to the next step, whether it be BHSAI, BHAII or BHSSI. To help staff get there we offer subsidised training (normally the Centre will pay 50% of fees), and bring in outside instructors to help. Contact us if you are interested in such opportunities.

We also can help employees achieve apprenticeship qualifications, in conjunction with third party trainers, including:

Foundation Modern Apprenticeship
Advanced Modern Apprenticeship
Riding & Road Safety test
BHS preliminary Teaching Certificate

Child protection and first aid courses are delivered regionally in co-ordination with the BHS.

Many employees have moved on to important roles in the horse world both in the UK and abroad having been trained at the Centre.

We offer 12 month apprenticeships leading to stage 2 NVQ qualifications. If you are interested in this contact us.

Terms and conditions: we offer competitive terms and conditions, if space is available employees’ may be able to bring their own horse (one) and accommodation is available on site in a purpose built new house. A full contract is given to each employee detailing terms and conditions which covers for example paid holiday entitlement, sickness pay policy etc.

Opportunities do arise from time to time so if you are looking to start your career or even take an existing career to the next step, do contact Rosie, see below for current vacancies.

Individuals within the industry are welcome to come for short term courses and clinics to progress their career. We can explain what you need, what exams to take and help coach you for these exams. Charges are reasonable.

Job Opportunities:

Groom/ Junior Instructor (now filled): We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced groom and instructor. You will have a few years experience at a good yard and have your PTT. You probably want to join an organisation that will help you get your next stage qualifications and allow you to practice your knowledge and expand it on-the-job.

As you can see from this website we are a full service yard which enables staff to get experience in most areas of the equestrian world. We take training very seriously and will work with you to agree a development programme to help you achieve your goals. We bring in top level trainers to train the staff, work with outside providers to support and give you the training you need, encourage you to attend relevant external courses and support you with exams. We are a BHS "where to train" Centre, have on site NVQ trainers and, for example, you can take C&G examinations here on line in our Training Centre.

You will work with a great team and work on both yard duties and play a key role in our teaching programme. This post can be a 5 or 6 day week, we pay competitively and can offer on site accommodation in a new purpose built house.

Apprentice (now filled) Whilst this vacancy is filled do let us know if you are interested as things change and opportunities arise all the time: We currently have a vacancy for an apprentice at the Berkshire Riding Centre ltd. You will be 16-18 and probably have had an interest in horse riding as a hobby and now have decided that you want to enter the industry as a professional. We can offer you a one year apprenticeship, under the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme. Working with a third party agency and our in house trainers we will help you achieve nationally recognised NVQ qualifications through a structured training programme, gaining experience both on the job and through other work. This is not for the faint hearted as it involves hard work - both theory and practical - so you need to be well motivated. You will work a 5 day week, including at least one weekend day.

If you are up for this then the Berkshire Riding Centre will help you achieve your equestrian career dreams.
