BRC regularly run courses in preparation for different BHS exams, and for topics of interest including mock exam days. Details will appear on this page and on the BHS website. Please also see main Events calendar.
Below are details of courses being held at the Centre:
1. Riding & Road Safety course and exam.
2. Stage I, II, III and IV training - also E&T
3. Programme of Progressive Riders Tests
4. Adult new riders courses.
Note: on all courses we endeavour to run them as planned. If you have booked and in the unlikely event that we are unable to run the course you will be offered an alternate date or a full refund.
see below
BRC runs a four session, 8 hours in total, course in preparation for the BHS exam that is held here. You book on the course with us, confirmed participants are written into our list below. At this stage, once we have confirmed you onto the course, you then book yourself on the exam direct with the BHS.
We run the courses/ exam frequently - subject to numbers. We have to have a minimum of eight participants. Registration with the BHS for the exam is required prior to the beginning of the course. Forms may be downloaded off the BHS website, or bookings may be made directly with them for the exam.
WE have a great track record of results, so if you are interested in getting this qualification this is the place for you. In 2011 we had a 100% pass rate, meaning that all 40 participants who took the course and exam in 2011 passed - EVERY SINGLE PERSON PASSED. Congratulations to them.
Hard work but the right outcome. We believe that this is due to a well structured 4 session training programme leading to the exam, and this is what we offer - see below. The next courses starting January 30th 2012 are detailed below and bookings are now being taken - if your are interested do book now.
Do note these will only be run if there is sufficient demand. So let us know, now, if you are interested even for later dates.
Confirmed participants so far:
Total course : £130
Individual Sessions : £30 plus a £50 fee to take the exam here -
if space is available - see below.
We reccomend you take the full four training sessions and that is the programme we offer.
If you only want to attend the exam then this may be possible depending on bookings and we can only confirm this ca two weeks before the exam date, however a £50 fee would be payable payable to the Centre at the time of booking. If this is what you want then call to get on a waiting list. Do note that priority is given to those who attend the full course. Individual training sessions can then be booked at a fee of £30 each session on top of the exam fee.
These costs may be subject to change for future courses.
Please note that once you have confirmed a place on the course/ exam you must then register with the BHS and pay them the exam fee - see below.
Spaces for course must be booked in advance and paid for in full, details of participant and riding experience and weight / height are needed at the time of booking. Course prices include hire of horse or pony.

Many adults wanted some experiences beyond simply a lesson, some had heard about
some of our programmes for children and wanted something for adults,
so we devised this programme. We time it
for a bank holiday (generally) so people are not working and have the time, and
it doesn’t clash with weekends which can get very busy.
The days aims are:
1. to develop horse care knowledge
2.
to develop riding skills
1.
2 hours of riding
2.
A theory lecture
3.
A practical lecture
4.
Practical practice on yard, all aspects of horse care
